Bridezillas of the world, listen up: Jamie Lynn Spears didn’t do a single tasting before commissioning her beautiful five-tiered wedding cake from Louisiana bakery The Cocoa Bean for her recent New Orleans nuptials.

“For the wedding consulation she was actually out of town,” says bakery owner Anthony Delpidio, who worked with Spears’ new husband, Jamie Watson, and her assistant to pick out the traditional vanilla, almond and vanilla-bean buttercream cake. “She sent a picture and said, ‘This is the idea I want. Just run with it and do your thing.'”

Since Spears has been a regular visitor at the bakery for years, “we know what she likes from us,” he tells PEOPLE. “She’s not a very tough customer. She’s very easygoing.”

The cake took eight hours to make, says Delpidio, who also created Watson’s groom’s cake.

“Jamie’s idea was to have his [duck-hunting] boat and his dog on there,” Delpidio says of the chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. “He sent me pictures of the boat and we worked off of that.”

Touches like 3-D fondant “weeds and swampgrass” and tan camouflage airbrushed on the boat ensured it was perfectly on point for the hunting theme — a playful contrast to Spears’ classic cake.

“I think she just wanted to keep it simple,” Delpidio says, adding that Spears’ 5-year-old daughter, Maddie, also weighed in with her opinions. “I do [Maddie’s] cakes all the time,” he says.

Sounds pretty sweet to us.

I agree .Then to make it better vanilla, almond and vanilla bean. All my favorites. Yummy. She is so pretty and so is her daughter. Wish you lots of happiness. Congrats!!!

That is one of the prettiest cakes I have ever seen. It looks like it would be delicious!!!

I personally think that’s the UGLIEST wedding cake I’ve ever seen, no offense meant. looks like someone just pooped a big ole hole in a big ole bag and squeezed out onto the cake willy-nilly like. But love the Groom’s cake!

That cake is gorgeous…stunning. The groom’s cake is a bit much but I get it is meant to look like a guy thing.

Annie – it’s actually a fondant frill, not icing in a bag applied to the cake. Each row of fondant is cut, then the edge ruffled using a special tool, then applied to the cake.

I want some of that cake.

I think she is to young to get married and he is told old for her..
just my opinion.

her cake looks beautiful, fresh and very much like something I’d eat, not that weird fondant stuff

She has such a cute daughter!! Love the dress they look so happy. Love those pics.

I think it’s pretty, but fondant is so disgusting that it’d be a look, don’t touch cake for me. Jamie Lynn, on the other hand, looks stunning no matter how you look at it.

She really is pretty isn’t she? I wish her and her hubby well!

Good for Jamie Lynn……she has pulled her life together and looks happy and beautiful

I don’t like the wedding cake…the frills look haphazard and actually not frilled enough and the flowers are too small for the tiers….also, I think this technique looks better in ombre colors…

Google ombre ruffle cakes, you’ll see.

I’m sorry, to each his own, but I think that cake is hideous. I do cakes for a living and that looks like something I might do if I were drinking while decorating.

And to the people that don’t think they like the way fondant tastes, you haven’t had homemade fondant! I make it myself and it doesn’t compare to what most bakeries use! That stuff is nasty!

Missy on

why does she have an assistant?

DaisyMoon on

Susan is right…
I also make my own fondant and it doesn’t have the chemical taste or “elephant skin” texture that most commercial brands do.
It’s even delicious (rolled thin) on sugar cookies.

I am NEVER one to pass up a cake 😉 but it kind of looks like the wedding cake “smooshed” under it’s own weight.

I think these cakes do look better in colors but this one is pretty also. Congrats, I lover her soft wedding colors.

The groom’s cake is very cute. Especially, the dog in the boat. The wedding cake looks a little messy but best wishes to them anyway.

Everything looks very beautiful and down to earth. Jamie Lynn took what could have been a bad situation, unwed teen mother, and really made a nice life for herself and her daughter. Congratulations to the happy couple!!

So…his name is Jamie as well?

I thought the cake looked very messy

With all the money you all have, and that is your wedding cake, I hope it didn’t cost over $100. because I could have done that. But the Grooms cake was very nice. And not to fond of the dress either.

L. Smith on

Good for her. I am happy that she has found happiness. Her husband looks really nice!

horris on

wow, doesn’t she look like a DOG! yuck!! bet she’s a real witch too.

Am I the only one who doesn’t understand the groom cake? Seems a little out of place, like it should be at the bachelor party not the wedding lol
