What’s the most refreshing drink of the summer? Lemonade, of course! And we’re loving this easy upgrade idea that Lauren Conrad posted on Instagram: Add a dose of lavender-infused simple syrup to your glass.

The best thing about simple syrup is that it’s so easy to make: all you need is sugar, water and a base flavor. In this case, be sure you choose culinary lavender, which should be available at the grocery store or specialty foods store. Culinary lavender is grown especially to be used in recipes, while the other kinds are best left to potpourri.

Find our basic recipe for lavender-infused syrup below. But first, check out Lauren’s photo, which shows the simple syrup in the making:

We’ll be adding our lavender simple syrup to lemonade, lemon drop martinis, and maybe even some Champagne this summer. Not a fan of lavender? Simply swap in fresh mint, ginger, rosemary or another favorite herb or spice. The combinations are endless.

Lavender-Infused Simple Syrup
Makes 1 cup

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp. dried lavender

1. Combine sugar, water and lavender in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring mixture to a boil and boil for 2 minutes. Stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved.

2. Remove from heat and let lavender steep for 10 minutes. Strain out lavender buds, and store an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Why is Lauren Conrad being featured on so many sites lately? She hasn’t done anything in the entertainment field in a long time.
Also, infused simple syrup is hardly new and Lauren Conrad certainly didn’t come up with it.

I agree with Diane. Lauren Conrad is an irrelevant person. She also did not invent nor inspire lavender simple syrup. Ms. Conrad is nothing original and shouldn’t be held to those standards.
