What’s in Kourtney Kardashian’s Kitchen Pantry?

It’s the side of Kourtney Kardashian you don’t see on camera: her role as the Kardashian family’s pantry cop.

“I pick apart everyone’s pantries,” she tells Natural Health magazine in its September issue, on newsstands August 7. “They think I’m super-annoying.”

The organic-foods junkie is regularly on patrol at her mother Kris Jenner‘s house — and if tickets were issued, she’d have a stack. “I saw my mom making meals for my kids, and I said, ‘This is the cheese you use? This is the butter?’ But I guess that’s just part of going to Grandma’s house.”

The pregnant reality star tells the magazine she wasn’t raised to be this picky about the foods she eats. She adopted her clean-living attitude — and Ayurvedic alternative medicine techniques — after she had her children, Mason, 4, and Penelope, 2.

“When I got home from school, my snack was a bag of chips or cookies, and as an adult, I didn’t even know what organic meant — I’d just go to the market and buy the same thing my mom bought. I didn’t really have any thoughts about it before I had my kids,” she says.

Having nursed both kids for over a year, she put the focus on foods when the kids began eating solids. “I began making their baby food myself, all of it organic,” she says. “After that, I was super cautious about what to introduce to their diets.”

In recent years, she has become fond of the Panchakarma cleanse, a detox treatment involving massage and herbal therapy, to rejuvenate her own body and mind, and her yoga teacher clued her in to a new way of preparing food at home. “We would do yoga for an hour and then she’d stay for another hour and cook with me,” she says. “That’s where I got all of my rules. In our house, we do everything whole: whole milk and full-fat cheeses. And I use ghee and coconut oil for cooking.”

While she definitely makes exceptions when her family — including boyfriend Scott Disick — is on the go, they eat organic when they can and try to keep healthy food and snacks stocked in their own pantry. With another baby on the way, though, she’s definitely listening to her belly: “I try to eat pretty healthy, but I think it’s fun and important to listen to your cravings. I develop a thing for Nilla Wafer cookies every time. I have no idea why!”

The Latest Craze in Disco Styles Is See-Through Jeans—but Beware of Foggy Bottoms

Posted on

On a clear day, you can see forever—or at least that’s the wicked thought behind L.A. designer Agi Berliner’s transparent idea: see-through jeans. Exhibitionists notwithstanding, most folks wear them over bathing suits or as attention-getting evening wear with halters, garter belts and body stockings. Created for the disco crowd, the $34 jeans are selling like, well, hot pants. In just six weeks, 25,000 pairs have already been sold in such major department store chains as Macy’s, Bonwit’s and Saks.

“What’s limiting American designers is that we’re afraid to do something different,” says Berliner, 32, a Hungarian émigré who fled with her family to the U.S. in 1956. Agi thought up the gimmick in London while marveling at the way plastics were being employed by designers of punk fashion. In her L.A. office, where she designs for La Parisienne junior sportswear, Agi spent five days on the phone and six weeks testing to come up with the right plastic.

Agi herself tried out the French-cut jeans with the zipper in front, and quickly found several problems: Some plastics tore away from stitching, others wouldn’t bend and all fogged with perspiration. The ideal material proved to be a vinyl supplied by a bookbinder. The steam was eliminated with a series of vents behind the knees and in the crotch. “They’re no hotter than polyester pants,” claims Agi, “and if you wear them with tights, they won’t stick to your legs.”

Whatever the discomfort and despite the problem of Saturday night feverishness, discomaniacs report one major advantage of the plastic pants: no laundry bills. To keep Berliner’s see-through jeans clear, all the wearer needs is a little Windex.

Well, that was a waste of a read. Wasn’t very informative! Other than she tries to stock her pantry with organic food, there wasn’t even ONE ITEM specifically mentioned. Bait-and-switch headline.

ummmm, didn’t you just tell us yesterday she is living in a hotel because, apparently, she has mold in her house (kitchen). Again, WHO CARES?!?!?!

No wonder Scotty is out partying with Khloe..he wants some real food !!!!!

Selena on

That’s too bad that your mom let you eat crap when you got home from school. Very sad, but not surprising.

Marcia on

I would assume she has plenty of liquor, too, for old Scotty.

mold, kourtney has mold in her kitchen lol

Tracy on

Without reading the article, I’m guessing take out menues.

Nixie on

Doesn’t she mean her assistant stocks her pantry after grocery shopping for her and her chef cooks with coconut or ghee oil?

Just Sayin' on

Everything she said is in tune with today’s healthy eating. Organics, no GMO’s, no processed foods. And Lesli…what she cooks is REAL food, what’s he getting while out with Khloe is FAKE FOOD. Read your labels people.

Oh please! I’m for eating healthy and some organic but not all. I still like eating healthy but some just take it too far esp. with kids. Let them enjoy some things. Just because her own kids are eating very healthy now doesn’t mean they’ll stick with it when older. Some kids can be big now but end up healthier later and some can be small and turn into the opposite. You never know. Eat and feed healthy foods but she shouldn’t be stripping the fun off and great things her kids like to enjoy esp. when they’re with grandma or grandpa. Healthy food is supposed to be food for the brain but even with that, these K girls just don’t have it. Brain-wise, that is!

Just Sayin' on

Lani, really it’s important for kids with developing brains not to consume chemicals in their food. READ YOUR LABELS and see what you are giving to your kids. For example read the ingredients on the most common food we give our kids…Kraft mac & cheese. If you dont questions what some of those ingredients are then you are really dumb.

Those food cravings can be a mother. With my first son it was fish and oatmeal, which I hadn’t eaten since I was a child. With my second son it was fish and beets. God only knows where those cravings came from?????

The Realist on

WHO CARES??? People please stop writing about this trashy family!

liwildcatc on

This is the woman who does not use soap, deodorant, or anything scented, while she is pregnant and she smell funky as her sister and Scott were talking about it while in Miami. Maybe the mold is on her from her bad smell. Yikes……She always looks dirty when she is pregnant. And her voice and his, just goes right thru me. Yes I watch the show cause it never ceases to amaze as of what they are up to.

George Bush on

Amazing that she is the dumb Kardashian, that is saying a lot.

Nicole on

I didn’t read the article but my guess would be the chef, maid and nanny.

tina on

You can never take it to far by offering your kids healthy food options all the time. I grew up like that, and while I do enjoy a little junk as an adult, I tend to revert to what I was taught as a child. Hate the Kardashians all you want, but what Kourtney is doing is what’s best for HER kids. Educate yourselves and read labels, we are killing ourselves and our children.

Asthmatic Aviva on

Remember the mom was out schtupping both Todd- that tennis instructor she cheated with, and Khloe’s father the hair stylist – (and probably OJ, who knows who else) to care what her eldest daughters were doing.

Love that she eats whole fat. Much much healthier.
