The Friends Central Perk Coffee Shop Is Coming to New York

Friends Central Perk Coffee Shop in New YorkWarner Bros/Everett

Two things that will always be there for you: Friends reruns and coffee.

Now you can find both in New York City, in the exact same place Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, and Joey got their caffeine fix on Friends — proving that all good things come to those who wait ten years after a finale!

Warner Bros. Television Group, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, and Eight O’Clock Coffee are partnering to re-create the popular TV show’s Central Perk coffeehouse at a pop-up location in downtown Manhattan in September.

Besides brews, they’ll be serving up tons of fun things for the Friends superfan to take selfies with, including actual props from the show, like the cozy orange couch the group spent each week gabbing on. For the fan who covets free stuff, “Smelly Cat” and other tunes so artfully created by the tone-deaf Phoebe will be played, and prizes will be awards in daily giveaways and other contests.

Even the clan’s favorite barista, Gunther (played by James Michael Tyler), cleared his calendar for an appearance at this gig, which will pop up at 199 Lafayette Street in Manhattan, opening Wednesday, Sept. 17 and closing Saturday, Oct. 18. The shop is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Live closer to 15 Yemen Road than Manhattan? In conjunction with the Friends anniversary, Eight O’Clock Coffee‘s special Central Perk-themed blend will be available in stores across the country, too.

To the “People” family – this is my dream! Well, not exactly but a pop-up Central Perk is pretty darn close! I’m 30, a 2x Stage III Rectal Cancer survivor who literally watches Friends every single night. It’s become part of my husband’s ritual & our favorite 6 NYer’s helped me keep a smile on face during my 2 & 1/2 year battle. You should totally send me to cover this story for you! It would be amazing! {goodbyedancerhellocancer.blogspot.com}

Why just a pop-up? Why only for one month? It’s not like the Friends Central Perk coffee shop wouldn’t be busy, like, all the time! Could I BE any clearer?

“Even the clan’s favorite barista, Gunther … CLEARED HIS CALENDAR” – That is sarcasm, right? Not nice, People, not nice at all! ;-)

I got to see the set in person when I toured the Warner Bros lot a couple years ago, but it will be great to see it in NYC too! I’ll definitely check this out!

My goodness. This was a marginally entertain ing show in its last three years but let’s milk it for all it’s worth nearly a decade later.
