Everything is coming up rosy for Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg — including their wedding cake!

The newlyweds, who tied the knot on August 31 at the Chicago-area Hotel Baker, worked with All Chocolate Kitchen to create a six-tiered, white buttercream cake adorned with 145 pulled sugar roses.

“[Jenny] wanted to be very romantic and passionate so the red and white was an amazing combination,” Esther Roby, general manager of the Geneva, Illinois-based dessert bar, tells PEOPLE. “It matched her theme,” which included her stunning white wedding dress and bouquet of red roses.

Created by chef Alain Roby, who shared his sketch with PEOPLE, the cake was made with alternating layers of red velvet, vanilla custard creme brûlée and Roby’s famous devil’s food cake (a special request from the couple) and was covered — and dotted — with white buttercream to give it texture.

But the real wow factor was the stunning edible flowers. “The sugar roses started at the top of the cake and cascaded all the way around and spread to the table where the cake was situated, creating an amazing bed of roses that was actually mixed with real roses,” Roby says of her husband’s design. “They were beautiful red and two-tone red sugar roses to create a really three-dimensional look.”

And an added touch, the edible roses served as a keepsake. “The most beautiful thing with sugar roses is that you can actually keep them, so I think Jenny was going to give some to the guests.”

And just like McCarthy’s proposal, her son Evan was a big part of the process. “Her son has come in many times and loves the store so I think that was one of the reasons why they started to look into us,” says Roby.  “He loves our truffles!”

As for the final product Roby says, “We had some ideas and they, of course, had their ideas, and I think all together this turned out to be the most beautiful thing for them. And, the most beautiful thing I noticed was that there was so much love and passion that day.”

So many unnecessary hate and comments. It’s a cake!!! Leave it to the jealous jerks to make it something more than it is. The funny thing is, it doesn’t affect anybody. At the end of the day, they did what they wanted to and are happy.

Btw, looking at the sketch it looks absolutely diving. Not to mention, DELICIOUS!!!! Yum-o!!!!

The marriage will be over before all the cake is eaten. She can’t be faithful to just one man at a time.

Cake is all I care about. Don’t care about dresses, vows, table settings, guest list, toasts, garters, blah blah…just cake. I care about cake. And then I didn’t even get to see a photo of a cake, just a dumbass drawing.

and wow does her rack look bad in that dress/photo. Not too late to take them implants out, girl! They have earned you a s***load of money already.

I have no idea what “pulled sugar” is. I just looked at some granulated sugar I have here and can’t figure out how I would pull it.

I’m not trying to be petty. I like them both. But for an “understated and small” (her words) wedding w/ 80 guests, it seems the cake is way too big and over the top.

Pretty dress… bad posture…but I’m sure they took any pic they can get.

Poor Donnie. She is obnoxious white trash. Run Donnie, run!

Love, love, love you both!! You are an awesome couple and I am so happy for you :)

Claire M on

She is God-awful. Beyond obnoxious, beyond trashy.

145 pulled sugar roses? Sounds like a bit much.

Angela on

Jenny is beyond trashy and beyond obnoxious!

@Linsey That was hilarious. Terrible photo of Jenny. She looks misshapend and awkward. Looks like her top is weighing her down. Doesn’t matter tho. It’s not going to last. Should Sherri Sheppard be home watching her kid and taking care of the new one as well. And stop with the selfies Sherri. You are annoying on so many levels.

there really ought to be a way to flag comments here. @Larry Dickst, you are a disgusting, foul mouthed pig, much like the woman the article is about!

NOLA on

Like them both and wish them Blessings, upon Blessings and Happiness. They are a beautiful couple.

Ashley on

She is so trashy who would marry her? Yuck!

Jules on

She is a vulgar pig. Stop writing articles about her, people can’t stand her. Condolences to her husband
