Baskin-Robbins Debuts Camouflage Ice Cream for Veterans Day — and It Sounds Sort of Delicious

Despite the color palate of Baskin-Robbins’s new Veterans Day flavor, we have to admit that the camouflage-patterned treat sounds mighty tasty.

The military-themed ice cream, formally dubbed First Class Camouflage, is available throughout November and is a combination of three flavors: chocolate (brown), “salty” caramel (tan) and vanilla cake (green).

There are other stealthy-colored items joining the menu as well, including bright green (almost neon) waffle cones and bowls and a First Class Camouflage Layered Sundae, which includes Oreo pieces, caramel praline topping, hot fudge and whipped cream.

In addition, on Veterans Day, the company will donate 10 cents from each ice cream scoop sold in its U.S. locations to the United Service Organizations (USO), in honor of U.S troops.

The company said in a press release that their camouflage flavor “celebrates our troops in a fun and unique way.”

We’re just excited to see a new food that isn’t seasoned with pumpkin spice — perhaps camo will unseat America’s current fall food obsession as the new “it” flavor?

Tell Us: Will you try the new camouflage flavored ice cream?

The Latest Craze in Disco Styles Is See-Through Jeans—but Beware of Foggy Bottoms

Posted on

On a clear day, you can see forever—or at least that’s the wicked thought behind L.A. designer Agi Berliner’s transparent idea: see-through jeans. Exhibitionists notwithstanding, most folks wear them over bathing suits or as attention-getting evening wear with halters, garter belts and body stockings. Created for the disco crowd, the $34 jeans are selling like, well, hot pants. In just six weeks, 25,000 pairs have already been sold in such major department store chains as Macy’s, Bonwit’s and Saks.

“What’s limiting American designers is that we’re afraid to do something different,” says Berliner, 32, a Hungarian émigré who fled with her family to the U.S. in 1956. Agi thought up the gimmick in London while marveling at the way plastics were being employed by designers of punk fashion. In her L.A. office, where she designs for La Parisienne junior sportswear, Agi spent five days on the phone and six weeks testing to come up with the right plastic.

Agi herself tried out the French-cut jeans with the zipper in front, and quickly found several problems: Some plastics tore away from stitching, others wouldn’t bend and all fogged with perspiration. The ideal material proved to be a vinyl supplied by a bookbinder. The steam was eliminated with a series of vents behind the knees and in the crotch. “They’re no hotter than polyester pants,” claims Agi, “and if you wear them with tights, they won’t stick to your legs.”

Whatever the discomfort and despite the problem of Saturday night feverishness, discomaniacs report one major advantage of the plastic pants: no laundry bills. To keep Berliner’s see-through jeans clear, all the wearer needs is a little Windex.

Green should’ve been pistachio…maybe

Carolyn on

I’d eat that.

I am not a big ice cream lover, but I have been craving what I imagine “salty caramel ice cream” will taste like ever since I first saw the news!🙂

think the green should have been mint, and the tan should have been coffee

A whole 10 cents is going to be donated to the USO for every scoop they sell. How patriotic of them.

I’m a camo person. Love the look of the the camo ice cream and camo cone. It’s awesome.

Karissa on

Should have made it coffee flavored! Then it would be really fitting!

our local ice cream shop has has camouflaged ice cream for a few years. It is s’mores flavored. Brown is chocolate, tan is gram chracker & green is marshmallow! Part of the proceeds go to the wounded warrior project & it’s AMAZING!!

Gary Withrow on

Is it free to veterans on Veterans Day ? If not it should be and maybe donate 10% or 20% of sales to wounded warriors or USO just saying it would be a good gesture to our troops

Can you buy this in grocery stores? It would be fun for deer camp also!

Be careful when ordering from a Baskin Robbins location that is surrounded by forest. I ordered one because it looked so delicious. But as the cashier handed it over to me, I lost sight of it and it fell to the ground. After they replaced it (and wrapping the cone in a napkin) I continuously licked various treas and wildlife while trying to get the ice cream to my mouth. I would suggest ordering one of these only in Urban environments.

The flavors should be chocolate/coffee/mint..

Too bad that there are so few BR’s around these days. They were the best ice cream around – Pralines and Cream and Chocolate Mousse Royale…..

A nice gesture, but NOT an original idea. Our regional ice cream shops have had “Sgt. Camo” ice cream since at least 2009. We bought some to help celebrate my son’s return from basic training at Christmas. It tastes of graham and marshmallow, like smores. I’ll stick with the “best in the midwest”.

Good idea for a boys birthday party! I wonder how long it will last in the freezer? I agree, the green should have been something else besides “cake”..

Looks tasty and sounds delicious! I love the look of the camo cone. I hope I can find some of this … we don’t have any Baskin Robbins left in my area of the country.

This is great for Honey Boo Boo and ’em

They’re only donating 10 cents from every cone sold ,that’s insulting.

Too bad the people at either Baskin Robbins near my house loudly complain and yell at me any time I take my service dog in there. Apparently only patriotic if it makes them more money.

Really only 10 cents per scoop? Geez, why not more

Thanks for your publish. My partner and i have constantly seen that many people are needing to lose weight when they wish to appear slim and attractive. On the other hand, they do not continually realize that there are more benefits so that you can losing weight in addition. Doctors assert that fat people come across a variety of conditions that can be perfectely attributed to the excess weight. The great news is that people who are overweight along with suffering from several diseases can reduce the severity of their own illnesses by simply losing weight. You’ll be able to see a slow but identifiable improvement with health while even a bit of a amount of weight loss is attained.
