Kate Hudson: Dieting ‘Puts So Much Pressure on People to Lose Weight Quickly’

There once was a time when Kate Hudson reveled in being one of the boys.

A competitive streak brought on by growing up with brothers, the girl who used to bungee jump, rock climb and ski double black diamonds says in the March issue of Shape magazine: “Now that I look back, I can’t believe I did it.”

And even though she now has two more boys in her life — sons Ryder, 11, and Bingham, 3 — the actress and Fabeletics co-founder has mellowed since becoming a mom. “I felt a shift and really don’t have the desire to thrill-seek anymore,” she tells the magazine, on newsstands Thursday. “The other day my brother was making fun of me and called me a Gucci skier. He said, ‘you’re wearing all the right clothes and look good skiing, but when you get down the hill, you’re done.”

Although, when it comes to her work out regime, Hudson, 35, is still fierce and focused (I mean, have you seen that body).

“I’ve been switching up from the softer stuff, like Pilates and yoga, to more aggressive activities like TRX and boxing. I really enjoy sweating it out, and it helps me clear my mind,” she said. “It’s not just about trying to look good physically, it’s important to get oxygen to my brain and feel like my blood is really circulating. I love skiing, walking, hiking and especially riding my bike. It makes me feel like a kid again!”

Hudson also loves to work it on the dance floor.  “Dance is one of my favorite ways to express myself. But the very discipline of it – continuously pushing to be better – is what I love about it.”

And diet? “I hate the idea,” the star says. “It puts so much pressure on people to lose weight quickly. Getting healthy is not a two-week process, it’s a change of life-style.”

But when it comes to maintaining her show-stopping physique, the actress lives by a tried-and-true method. “I was at my favorite French restaurant in Paris … eating everything I love … steak, fries, lots of wine. Then the dessert came, and I was having strawberries and cream pastries plus the wine. [Then,] a svelte, sophisticated woman approached [my] table. She pointed to my glass of wine. ‘This is your piece of cake. That’s how you should be thinking.’ And I always try to remember that: Everything in moderation!”

like this woman ever needed to lose a pound? Come on…

Yet she has openly admitted, she uses my fitness pal and limits herself to 1,500 calories. Sure sounds like a “diet” to me.

@Jennifer, a ‘diet’ is something that is temporary. If she has found that consuming 1500 calories is the point where she doesn’t gain weight and that’s where she stays, it isn’t a diet, it’s a way of life.

That sophisticated svelte woman didn’t have the right to express her opinion in what she ordered.
Everything in moderation yes – but leave the judgment at home. Its OK to break the rule ever now & then!

That’s pretty rude that lady said that to her at the restaurant.
