Pancake Art

Make your artsy pancakes and eat them, too, right?

That’s the thought behind a father-son duo that has built an impressive YouTube following with their pancake art. Known to fans as Tiger Tomato, the pair, who come from Melbourne, Australia, uploaded their first video (a rainbow pancake how-to) back in March, and have gained 32,284 subscribers (and counting) since then.

“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” the father-son duo tells PEOPLE. “We really enjoy reading all the comments and it inspires us to create more pancakes.”

With 1-2 minute videos taking on character favorites like Homer Simpson, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Pikachu, among others, what makes these tutorials so captivating aren’t just the finished products, but the attention to detail, which is clearly caught on camera for aspiring pancake artists to try out at home.

Tiger Tomato makes it look effortless, but they assure us that challenges do arise, citing their most intricate creation—the Elsa pancake , which they call “the most challenging and tremendously fun to make.”

Inspired to channel your inner Picasso at breakfast time? The pair offers first-timers advice on starting out with your own creation. “Just go for it!” they say. “See where your inspiration leads you. Anyone can do it, all you need are steady hands and a little patience.”
