Jessica Alba definitely has a spicy side.

When talking about her go-to dinner, the actress and entrepreneur told “I try to always have a salad, and I always make my own salad dressing—it just tastes better. I’ll often make a chicken quesadilla with corn tortillas—and gallons of hot sauce. Literally. It’s like I’m trying to burn a hole through my stomach. It’s so good. It’s such a problem.”

And her “unexpected” condiment obsession doesn’t discriminate. “I have five or six different types in my fridge,” she said, including Tabasco (“love the vinegar flavor”) sriracha, Cholula, and at least one habanero sauce. “Anything habanero-Caribbean-flavored, I’m down with.”

Alba’s 7-year-old daughter even shares her mom’s love of hot sauce. “Honor wants Cholula on all of her tacos, on her breakfast—even her eggs, like breakfast tacos—and she’ll straight pour it on chicken. If I make roasted chicken, she’ll want Cholula on it,” the Honest Company guru said.

And lucky for Alba her kids – Honor and Haven, 3 –  like their veggies, especially her carrot and avocado salad which she tops with homemade dressing – a blend of lime juice, coconut water, olive oil, salt and pepper.

“They go bananas for it,” she said. “They’ll chow on that, even if they have their favorite pasta or hamburgers, or whatever with it, they’ll eat that first. I don’t even have to ask them to eat their veg.”

But, Alba makes sure her daughters also get special treats, such as a special breakfast in bed, she served for Honor’s recent birthday.

“She wanted Cream of Wheat, pancakes, and my husband makes fried salami—not bacon, but fried salami, so they’re like salami chips—and she wanted hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream, plus extra whipped cream. She knew exactly what she wanted.”

As for Alba’s guilty pleasure: “Nachos,” she says. “I’m not much of a sweets person. I actually have low blood sugar and low blood pressure, and I get very woozy if I don’t have enough salt … when I do hot yoga, water isn’t enough. I need to have salty water or I’ll have coconut water.”
