EXCLUSIVE: American Pie’s Chris Klein Served Three Beautiful Cakes at His Wedding — See the Sweet Photos
Chris Klein made sure there was a very sweet ending to his picturesque wedding on Aug. 9 in Montana.
The American Pie actor, 36, and his bride, travel agent Laina Rose Thyfault, 30, treated their 115 guests to an elaborate dessert table with mini crème brûlée cupcakes and three — yes, three! — beautiful wedding cakes.
“We wanted to use local outfitters to celebrate Montana and all the things the folks are doing there,” Klein tells PEOPLE.
So the couple turned to Bozeman-based company Whipped, a bakery known for their unique flavors, to create their dream desserts.
“It was a really fun cake tasting,” says Whipped owner Jasmine Snyder. “You could feel their excitement mounting over the flavors.”
The couple decided on three wedding cakes. The first one was a two-tiered “naked” (or unfrosted) cake with a coconut base and an almond-flavored top layered with strawberry buttercream and fresh strawberries.
For the second cake, Klein and Thyfault choose a crepe cake: a stack of paper-thin crepes layered with pastry cream, topped with fresh figs and raspberries, and drizzled with honey.
And for the third confection, the couple chose a pecan pie cake, inspired by the classic southern dessert.
“Chris had mentioned loving pecan pie,” says Snyder. “I’ve had success translating pie flavors into cake so I made a pecan cake filling and then baked pie crust, pureed the pie crust, and whipped it into the butter cream frosting.”
The result was a sweet success for the couple and their guests.
“I was really happy with how everything turned out,” says Snyder. “And they were a joy to work with.”
