If Selena Gomez Wasn’t Famous She ‘Would Go to Culinary School’ to Be a Chef
We hope Selena Gomez never stops making her undeniably catchy hits—but if she did, we’re also on board with her backup plan.
The “Good For You” singer told Flare magazine if she could “push a button and make fame go away” she’d dive right into the food world.
Gomez’s culinary curiosity comes from growing up with very food-focused parents.
“I was around food my whole life. I’m from the South,” says the Texas native. “My mom’s side did the casseroles, the chicken, the squash, and then my dad’s side was full on, like hours of cooking tamales and rice and beans and homemade salsa, and I’d be like, ‘Can we just buy the salsa?’ ”
The singer—whose upcoming album Revival is out Oct. 9—isn’t the first star to get serious in the kitchen. Minka Kelly and Lo Bosworth recently graduated culinary school, while Taylor Swift, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz have all also dabbled in furthering their education.
Now if only we could count on a dinner party invite from one of them…
