Wahlburgers, the burger chain started by brothers DonnieMark and chef Paul Wahlberg is expanding in a big way.

A representative for the Massachusetts-based burger eatery confirmed to PEOPLE that the chain will add 100 to 150 more restaurants over the next five years.

The company—which currently has five locations in Massachusetts, New York and Toronto—has plans to open restaurants in Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Orlando, Manhattan and Washington D.C. in the near future. And according to Business Insider, they intend on expanding to 300 locations overseas.

The success of Wahlburgers is largely due to the Emmy-nominated reality show based on the restaurant, says CEO Rick Vanzura.

“It has certainly been a huge promotional vehicle,” he told Business Insider. “We saw an immediate increase in sales with the show. And Mark and Donnie understand the importance of the show to the brand so they have done everything they can to promote the show.”

But of course that also means chef Paul’s food—like their signature burger with “wahl sauce”—has to be up to par to compete with chains like Shake Shack and Five Guys.

“We’re just fortunate that people are interested in it,” he said last year. “The family name has some celebrity status to it. But we still have to live up to that.”

The Latest Craze in Disco Styles Is See-Through Jeans—but Beware of Foggy Bottoms

Posted on

On a clear day, you can see forever—or at least that’s the wicked thought behind L.A. designer Agi Berliner’s transparent idea: see-through jeans. Exhibitionists notwithstanding, most folks wear them over bathing suits or as attention-getting evening wear with halters, garter belts and body stockings. Created for the disco crowd, the $34 jeans are selling like, well, hot pants. In just six weeks, 25,000 pairs have already been sold in such major department store chains as Macy’s, Bonwit’s and Saks.

“What’s limiting American designers is that we’re afraid to do something different,” says Berliner, 32, a Hungarian émigré who fled with her family to the U.S. in 1956. Agi thought up the gimmick in London while marveling at the way plastics were being employed by designers of punk fashion. In her L.A. office, where she designs for La Parisienne junior sportswear, Agi spent five days on the phone and six weeks testing to come up with the right plastic.

Agi herself tried out the French-cut jeans with the zipper in front, and quickly found several problems: Some plastics tore away from stitching, others wouldn’t bend and all fogged with perspiration. The ideal material proved to be a vinyl supplied by a bookbinder. The steam was eliminated with a series of vents behind the knees and in the crotch. “They’re no hotter than polyester pants,” claims Agi, “and if you wear them with tights, they won’t stick to your legs.”

Whatever the discomfort and despite the problem of Saturday night feverishness, discomaniacs report one major advantage of the plastic pants: no laundry bills. To keep Berliner’s see-through jeans clear, all the wearer needs is a little Windex.

Of course no one talks about the hate crime he partipated in the 90’s RIGHT

Melissa on

Linda, people shouldn’t be defined by their crimes. He paid for his crime. Move on.

I’m sure at some point you’ve committed an atrocity that you wouldn’t want to hang over your head forever. Please grow up.

Joe on

Linda; it was no hate crime. It was 1988 and he was 16 and stole beer. It just so happened he stole the beer from two Chinks who didn’t want him to steal their beer. Moveon.

Never understand why people (Linda) insist on bringing up the past! Stuff happens when you are young and dumb, you work it out and move on! Meanwhile back at Wahlburgers…hope to see them in the New Orleans area during their expansion!

Joe: It as a hate crime..and it wasn’t just stealing beer. Mark beat the man to a pulp and almost blinded the poor fella. I wouldn’t support these douchebags with my money. He beat my people so nope won’t be forgiven. If it had been a black guy who beat your brother or cousin..im sure it would hit close to home. So…Move on.

Didn’t see a full list of locations but I’m guessing there won’t be one in Kansas. Y’all need to rethink that decision. We love y’all out here and need you to bring that good food to town (I vote for Salina Kansas)! We aren’t just a flyover state! I understand you all are running a business but there is money to be made here and all of us foodies need a place to go for a really good burger! Perfect fit! Hoping and praying to see one here soon 🙏👍
